just back from watching astroboy at midnight.. randomly got tickets probably because i was late and he had itchy fingers. turned out pretty good!!

stuffed to the max today.. ran to pick up sis' cake (this very light creamy strawberry hill) and made it back before the rain. picked up the family, chilled and cut cake, and then peramakan. headed to brotzeit after for pork knuckles, sausages, mash, and much beer.

was absolutely delicious getting to loll about for a day or two with noone else in the house. wasnt too eager to get myself out either.. the rain just made staying in so much more appetising. i've come to realise that i truly value solitude and the silence. made an abridged version of mushroom risotto (finally got to tinker about with the pots in peace), glass of wine in hand, and got to watch alot of cable at top volume, food channel, and do some reading. ran a fair bit of errands.. but it was a good feeling, that feeling of being alone and being able to fend for myself. a feeling that i've grown used to in my time abroad, but kind of dims once you're back living with family.. not that family is a bad thing, but having that own space and freedom is just so great isnt it? like being able to just not care if something you do might disturb someone else within a 1m radius.. that's kind of liberating.

its been raining everyday in varying volumes (disrupting any, and all, plans to swim) but i find it quite therapeutic just watching that sheet fall in its semi-opacity to the ground, washing everything clean. and i love the way the air smells after the rain, so fresh, i cant fill my lungs with enough of that good stuff. and i love how the way the temperature falls around the island, making strolling around so much more bearable.. and in my head, i think, has it really been another year? this is my second november back home.. and what a year it has been. watching the rain is both reassuring and hypnotic, for it always makes everything clean and new.

over ate and over drank. wine dine dine wine? probably ate enough to feed a small african village for a month.

squeezed in much playtime with the niece (she's growing so fast - nothing quite like having a toddler around to be amazed at the human ability to learn). friday satsuma and sake despite the storm, and andrea's at butter.. really fun reconnecting with long lost primary school friends, drinking too much, dancing maniacally and waking up with every muscle aching in the body. nourishing soup kitchen the next afternoon, lazy afternoon coffee, ice cream, and the boy and i went for super shiok foot reflexology. p's house party with tons of champagne/beer/wine and interesting talk, and dazedout after. alkie-free as a detox, great music as usual. hatched today, lazy walks, yami yogurt popcorn and movie, and poof goes the weekend

at least this week is gonna be quite exciting

i cannot profess to be a fan or know much about mj, nor did i ever get to watch him perform.. but i'm really glad i spent 2 hours watching this is it. it was mesmerising.

definitely one of the greatest talents of our time.

yesterday was fun in a jampacked kinda way, running around different ends of the island meeting different people and learning alot. still dont like jade as a working lunch place. somehow managed to make it back just in time for spinning class and then pigging out at the da paolo's bistro after (to completely negate all marginal benefits of exercise). dont think i can keep this up, but will try. starting to realise that growing up comes with a serious dose of bs.

been really hungry lately too - eating truckloads all day. today i discovered that the french toast that toast box serves (chinese style i suppose?) isnt really the french toast i had in mind when i ordered. its more like a deep fried slab of bread with a big chunk of butter. now i dont have an issue with oil - i could eat mountains of mantou - but this was a bit of an overdose first thing in the morning. had a huge bowl of prawn mee with the girls for lunch (extremely good), some of the chocolate wassants we got frm holland v to snack (so addictive) and a variety of miscellaneous junk. cooked up a classic me-mashup for dinner.

some a*hole has been calling me at 5am in the mornings and confusing me out of sleep. i'm too tired to describe how i would exact revenge but it'd involve him getting REALLY HURT (something along the lines of wartime torture.. plucking out fingernails maybe?)

his special delivery at 4am of 2x da paolo's tiramisu (large), 1x hazelnut mousse cake and 1x 3-layer chocolate cake.

of which i finished the entire tiramisu today (on top of all meals + random snacks)

maybe being out of the house is a better idea...
